Dual ORIGIN configuration transforms Önder Metal’s production
Founded in Turkey, Önder Metal specializes in the production of high-precision mechanical components for the machinery, crane manufacturing, automotive, and defense sectors. Its customers operate in industries where reliability, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical strength are essential to ensure the performance and safety of heavy-duty equipment.
In these sectors, production demands are increasingly complex: components are becoming larger, tolerances tighter, and delivery times shorter. Managing this balance between precision and productivity requires flexible and efficient machining systems.
For Önder Metal, one of the main challenges lies in processing very long parts. Handling and repositioning such components during machining is not only time-consuming but can also affect accuracy and operator safety. The company therefore set out to find a solution that could simplify these operations while making better use of the available production space.
A flexible layout for complex components
To address these challenges, FPT Industrie developed a customized solution based on two counterposed ORIGIN machines. This configuration allows Önder Metal to machine both sides of a long workpiece in a single setup, eliminating the need to reposition the component.
This system allows us to process both surfaces of a workpiece simultaneously, significantly reducing transition times, and improving accuracy for large parts with complex geometry.

The dual-machine layout offers high flexibility: the two units can work together on large parts or operate independently to produce smaller components simultaneously. This approach optimizes machining times and improves process accuracy while ensuring a more efficient use of floor space.

Optimizing space and safety
A key factor in the project’s success is the Lowered Base Morphology (LBM) design of the ORIGIN model. This distinctive layout reduces the overall footprint of the machine without compromising its structural rigidity or machining capacity. Thanks to the LBM design, Önder Metal was able to gain two additional meters of longitudinal travel compared to traditional configurations.
ORIGIN was the best fit for this project thanks to its Lowered Base Morphology design, which minimizes the machine’s footprint, a big advantage in facilities where floor space is limited. This also allowed us to maximize the longitudinal travel, gaining two extra meters.

The lowered layout also enhances operator safety and accessibility, allowing easier loading and unloading operations and smoother supervision during machining. As a result, the production flow has become more efficient and ergonomic, with reduced handling and improved overall visibility on the working area.

Connected and controlled
In addition to the machine, Önder Metal has chosen to rely on VISORMAX and MARES 4.0+, two digital solutions developed by FPT to optimize production processes.
Thanks to the integrated VISORMAX system, we can proactively plan maintenance cycles and carry out production without interruptions. The combination of ORIGIN’s precision with the MARES automation solution has significantly reduced our machining times. Moreover, the real-time data allows us to instantly respond to deviations, a major advantage in terms of process security.

Since installing the dual ORIGIN system, Önder Metal has noticeably streamlined operations. Machining their components now requires fewer repositioning steps, production flows are smoother, and the machines’ digital tools provide real-time insights that make day-to-day decisions easier.
