ORIGIN horizontal milling machines represent the evolution of an FPT icon, redesigned to deliver high performance in the machining of medium and large components.
The concept is based on a completely innovative approach to mobile column milling machine design, where optimized footprint, increased working volumes, and maximum structural rigidity come together in a solution that redefines the standards of its category.
Key technologies
LBM – Lowered Base Morphology (Origin 300)
The patented lowered base frame/column design allows longer longitudinal strokes within the same foundation compared to traditional solutions with telescopic guards. The absence of conventional bed covers, combined with the protected positioning of guideways and axis drive systems, enables larger workpiece dimensions without impacting the machine layout, resulting in significant space savings.
RST – Reverse Saddle Technology
The patented RST system features an innovative saddle design with an inverted “C” morphology, combined with three trapezoidal linear guideways and six high-resistance roller pads. This configuration ensures straightness of the ram during cross travel while significantly increasing torsional strength. The result is a more compact structure with a lower column at equal vertical stroke, delivering enhanced rigidity, higher material removal capacity, and consistent accuracy across the entire working area—without the need for compensation software.
Ram in EN-GJS-800-2 spheroidal cast iron
The ram is manufactured in spheroidal cast iron, offering superior mechanical strength and damping capacity. Combined with the large structural dimensions, this design eliminates vibrations, bending, and torsional deformations at the source, ensuring stable machining conditions and consistent precision without relying on electronic or electromechanical compensation systems.
Application fields
Thanks to its combination of large working capacity, structural rigidity, and precision, the ORIGIN series is ideal for general mechanics and mould & die applications, as well as for all processes involving complex and large workpieces requiring high material removal rates.
