FPT Industrie’s decades of planning expertise and technological experience in manufacturing large hydrostatic boring machines now find a new application in the turning, milling, and grinding of large mechanical components.
The result is a new range of machines offering innovative solutions available for the first time on the market. Each Vertigo model features fully hydrostatic movement on all axes, including the vertical movement of the W beam, combined with an active oil conditioning system that ensures perfect stability and precision. The clever hydrostatic thrust-bearing “tilter” supports and rotates the table with automatic control of load unbalancing and self-learning adjustment data (International Patent Pending).
An advanced load control device maintains constant table geometry and stiffness under varying load conditions, thanks to a hydrostatic system with active preload (International Patent Pending). The turning spindle transmission adopts a hybrid gearbox (planetary + parallel) with a high-torque, liquid-cooled built-in motor, ensuring high performance and reliability.
The C-axis Dual Drive transmission offers exceptional stiffness and bidirectional dynamics with complete backlash compensation, derived from the large hydrostatic tables used in FPT boring machines. The Direct Drive milling spindle system, developed and perfected by FPT, provides in-axis power transmission without mechanical gears, through a high-torque, liquid-cooled motor. This configuration eliminates mechanical wear and heat generation, increasing overall stiffness, efficiency, and milling accuracy.
The X-axis saddle-ram movement uses a dual pinion and rack system with Dual Drive management, significantly improving stiffness and positioning precision compared to traditional screw transmissions. Furthermore, an active geometry compensation system maintains constant structural alignment and accuracy across the entire working area, regardless of mass or position.
